Well some stories start badly and end ambiguously.
This is one of those.

She was nice, much too nice for Steven.
But he’d made the effort to come out for the evening.
So he thought “well why should I be leaving?”

She asked for a high strength lager, but the bar said they had none,
so she asked for a Pimms instead, and he said;
“I see you’re a woman of contrast, you’re kind of fun”.

She told him that she worked in a bar,
but not the kind you’d take a date.
She's not allowed a boyfriend, and sometimes not a break.
And the other girls bitch about all the tips she makes.

And she told him, her family they had sent her to the place that they'd come from, ‘cos they wanted her to see just why they had to run.
And she was going to keep on running.

And she’s got dreams!
Dreams to rent a bedroom that she doesn’t have to share.
With another girl who makes it clear she wishes she wasn’t there.

Steve’s like; "That's quite a story I’ve got to say. So you share a bedroom? Is she going to be there today? No no no that's not what I was getting at, or trying to say… oh well I guess I’ll see you around anyway."

So he wondered to himself as he sadly walked away.
All about that woman just trying to catch a break, as they take from her with both hands while smiling to her face. Well I hope she keeps on running ’til she runs this whole damn place.
